Praised for her elegant execution, beautiful tone and remarkable virtuosity, pianist Lydia Maria Bader has been described as “one of the leading pianists of Germany” (Neue Musikzeitung). Audiences and the press alike admire her charming moderation and thematically-conceived programs, which often venture into lesser-known territories of the piano literature and reflect a deep fascination with colorful cultures. After the acclaimed release of the 2014 album “Music of the North,” which featured works from Scandinavia and the Baltic countries, her current focus is on Asian-inspired piano music with the “Chinese Dreams” project .
My ninth tour to China was also the Chinese premiere of my new recital program "Chinese Dreams"! In these two weeks before Christmas I visited again the north of China, which is an amazing expericence during winter when nature becomes a icy winter wonderland. Due to a generous schedule, I had time to experience some Chinese daily life, do some Christmas shopping, eat all the yummy food and explore some more of one of my favorite cities: Shanghai!
My christmas single with the main theme of the beloved Christmas movie "Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel" - "Three wishes for Cinderella" was released on the 23.11.2018 as digital download and on Spotify!
Nine years after my first contact with Chinese piano music, a lot of online research and a difficult process of getting the music scores, my new program "Chinese Dreams" had its premiere in my hometown Offenbach on 28.10.2018. Traditional Chinese folksongs meet western Chinoiserie – a link between the musical worlds of China and Europe.
